Tafta outing for frail care residents
TAFTA is a registered non-profit organization (NPO) dedicated to serving the needs of Durban’s elderly residents by inspiring active aging. TAFTA promotes the Healthy and Active Ageing principle, encouraging older people to stay informed about issues affecting them, such as health and safety, technology, and financial matters. Many of the activities are organized by the members themselves, and opportunities are created for older people to express their opinions, hopes, and aspirations.
Outing entertainment for Tafta's residents under frail care
As Older People's special day came to a close, our entertainment event day took place on 24 October 2023 at UShaka Marine Coast, South Beach.
Participating elders arrived in their numbers, full of energy and raring to compete against each other. With 3 different teams representing the various homes and clubs of Tafta, the air was abuzz with friendly rivalry. Previous champions geared up to defend their title and new challengers prepared to set the bar higher than before.
Tafta Organizer, Rahida Hassan, welcomed the participAs Older Persons week came to a close, our annual combined sports day took place on 4 October 2023 at the Addington Primary School grounds, South Beach.
Participating elderants, congratulating them on pushing the boundaries of aging and reminding them of the importance of teamwork.
Supporting active ageing
After listening to the house rules, and warm-up exercises led by Tafta volunteers ( Blungile Gwala, Sthembile Ndaba, Mpilo Narie, Luyanda Gumede, Nkululeko Mazibuko), it was ready-set-go for the 3 team challenges. Divisional Manager of Operations, Yoshina Kistensamy, expressed her admiration for the elders who participated. the staff of Tafta, Became familiar with their residents and volunteers, learning each of their strengths and capabilities. As we journey through life together, it was heart-warming to see the growth, potential, and liveliness that can be found in the golden years of life. We applaud those who embrace new pursuits and active aging. Well done to each and every who participated in the frail care event. You gave it your all and made your Tafta family proud.

Before lunch, the cheetah team ( Langeler Towers) emerged victorious. It is so important to recognize the power of uniting in purpose to achieve success,” said Shamam. As we celebrate our special day which is uncommon to older people who are under frail care, our focus is on increasing stability.
“Our aim for this year was to build on partnerships and collaborations in order to sustain our organization going forward, and we are so grateful to have received support for this event. Our heartfelt thanks go to Surf Riders for sponsoring breakfast which was coffee, Tea, and muffins. also giving our special thanks to John Dorys for sponsoring our event with an amazing lunch for our amazing elders who were in the event.
